About Me
- BJ
- Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of Watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Faith/Art Journaling too. I've challenged myself to make an art journal page a day for this my 60th year. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing. I also like walking/Geocaching and sometimes do a bit of Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I have been learning to play the harp for the past 10yrs. I am now officially retired. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

Altered Book - Lesson 11 - Pockets
Ahh - Pockets! Just realised why I have been lagging these past few weeks on the Altered Book Course, think it has been the thought of making my own backgrounds. I have absolutely LOADS of patterned papers, as I am essentially a scrapbooker, so I opted for those this lesson and got it done in a jiffy. I haven't done anything more on the ATC tags than you can see here. So any suggestions welcome. Can you guess this is the September part of my seasons book!

Oh BJ...what a FANTASTIC array of pockets!!! I just love them :D xxx
Great pockets - what a fun page. I think I'd like to try something similar on a scrapbook layout!
Hi BJ, your pockets look brilliant, and useful too. A x
Beautiful pocket spread BJ, fab use of your papers.
Hugs x x x x
Fantastic job BJ, so glad you took Elizabeth's suggestion and did all those pockets like that! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)
I tried to delete your other link and couldn't. Sorry. I wish I knew how, but it must be because I have the free edition, or maybe because I'm just not looking in the right place on the Linky site.
But I really like these pockets. They are clever, fit perfectly with the autumn theme, and are very colorful.
When I taught the class the first time, I got the most homework from the students when they made their backgrounds. After putting up with all that theory, it seems they were really excited to get started making pages they could actually use. Since I don't buy scrapbook paper, I have to rely on what I make for myself. And because of that, I guess my enthusiasm showed. But I haven't really taught that many scrapbookers, so this is a truly new experience for me. Of course, you know what I always say. It's YOUR BOOK and you control what you put in it. I am glad you found a way to bring interest back into your realm.
Great pockets, BJ! Perfect theme for September! As for the tags...my first thought was you could decorate them appropriately--like a favorite quote or poem on the English one, maybe a favorite place on the Geography, etc. Thank you for the tip about the sticky tape at the top of each pocket. My book is 6 1/2" by 8".
I love all of these fun pockets :)
(I also think your wild 'n reckless butterfly is great!)

p.s. Spraying in a pizza box is a great idea!
Love the way you've set out the pockets. Ideas for the tags? Mmm. . . you must use your sprays, metal tool thingys and some powder and dry embossing - waiting to see what you come up with!!
Ps visit me . . . I've got some new things since you last looked.

Great page BJ, so interesting with the pockets.
Thanks for your visit and comment on my blog. I'm having a little crafting break at the moment so unfortunately I've made no progress with my AB at all! I've put everthing in a plastic tub safely, so when I'm ready again I'll have it all my fingertips!
Love your cut and dry and distress ink storage in your post above x
In like the variety in your pockets. Great!
Oh its beatifull!! I love it.
Love this spread of pockets and an ATC for each one, great idea. I love ATC's perhaps a representation of some major advance in each subject could be a theme e.g. for science the steam age
