About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of Watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Faith/Art Journaling too. I've challenged myself to make an art journal page a day for this my 60th year. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing. I also like walking/Geocaching and sometimes do a bit of Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I have been learning to play the harp for the past 10yrs. I am now officially retired. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

WOYWW #161 - Pizza Box & Stash

WOYWW and not much crafting here as I don't seem to have found the time. I did go to The Craft Barn Extravaganza last Saturday, where I met Karen of Tando Crafts and bought some goodies, shown on my desk. I succumbed to my first set of Dylusions Spray Inks (#1), my first Perfect Pearls Mists, and my first Cosmic Shimmer set. Plus the metal working tools in the foreground from Ten Seconds, and various other bits and bobs.

Other items on my desk are "pending" creating! Distress inks and card scraps for the next Summer of Colour ATC. Red,White and Blue alcohol inks for the July Timmy Tag. Cards for July birthdays are stacked in the box and taken from my stash of cards which I have at last just got down to ONE shoebox from TWO.

Oh and the Pizza Box! One of the demonstrators at the weekend suggested using a Pizza Box for spraying safety! I taped card to the sides which I can fold in and therefore close up the Pizza box to store more easily. Not had time to try it out yet as you can see, and I have badminton today too!

What a fab idea...and cheap too!! No matter how carefully I've sprayed items in the past, I just get covered with the stuff. My family knows it's Christmas if they see me covered in gold spray...sigh...I will never be neat or elegant ever.... :)

Sounds like you've got lots of new goodies to try out there. You'll have loads of fun creating with them I'm sure. I always spray onto a non stick craft mat. You can then wipe up the overspray onto small pieces of card which come in handy for making flowers or punching out of. I hate wasting it!!!

Hi ... Just poped back to explain 'fish n chip' babies ...
In the poorest of African areas the new borns are sent home in old papers ...(or nothing) ...hence the nickname fish n chips.....hard to believe.xx

Hi, thanks for stopping by my blog. You can find out lots of info on Andy Skinners blog. I signed up for his tutorial which gives you videos and pdf instructions. That way I can just do them at my pace. As I can't get to the craft barn I have to do online workshops!!

Ooh - the Pizza box spray booth is a really good idea - thanks for sharing that with us. Packs nice and flat so it's out of the way. Now I just need to convince the local pizza place to sell me a clean one for a song. Either that, or I need to order from Craft Obsessions who send everything out in pizza boxes!

~hmmm - think the latter suggestion sounds more fun!

I had to laugh when I got to the pizza box and spraying. Last weekend I spray painted something I bought at the thrift store - I put plastic on the ground and then spray painted away. Then I took off my flip flops -- OMG -- I had red feet!!! I scrubbed my feet FOUR times and still had some inkiness between my toes! tee hee

Thanks for visiting me already.

Hey, that pizza box is an excellent idea! I see A Muse products and they are starting a line of sprays. Of course I have to try them out and now I know what to do to protect the area. Thanks for sharing that. You have a lot of fun things on your desk, including the new sprays. I hope you get the time to play soon!

Great idea to use a pizza box, doubly so because you get to eat the pizza first.
Thanks for popping by yesterday - much appreciated.

I've got a couple of small-ish cardboard boxes that I cut one side out of, for spraying - I put kitchen paper in the bottom, and use one for non-sticky spraying (glimmer mists etc.) and the other for spray glues. When the latter's kitchen paper gets too sticky I either pull it out and replace it, or just put some more on top. With the other one, when the paper has got a lot of spray on it, you can use it in projects!

I've just got the Dylusions ink sprays too but no opportunity to try them yet. Still got lots of catching up to do - I'm really behind with everything!

Happy belated WOYWW,

Thanks for your lovely comment, BJ - it's great that on here we all help each other and get great ideas! Your idea of storing the sprays in a mini-roll box was good. Defo have to investigate that one. I ADORE mini rolls. (Oh dear, all hope is now lost of ever getting my waistline back again... You temptress you!!) At the moment they are in a plastic ice cream box - I have another one with my DIY glimmer mist spray bottles in it.

Having re-examined my Perfect Pearls, yes you are right, the labels on the bottoms are printed, not stuck on. The new ones' labels are stuck on, though, and I could probably take those off and stick them on the bottoms in order to be consistent! I wonder why they changed it...

Regarding the palette, one really good thing is that you can mix the Perfect Pearls and create your own custom palette if you like. I am sure you would soon fill up the compartments! If you haven't got enough, you could use half for PPs and half for alcohol inks. I'm really looking forward to getting mine sorted!
