About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of Watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Faith/Art Journaling too. I've challenged myself to make an art journal page a day for this my 60th year. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing. I also like walking/Geocaching and sometimes do a bit of Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I have been learning to play the harp for the past 10yrs. I am now officially retired. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

Timmy Tag 2014 #02

I have done my February Timmy Tag in miniature again this month. It is on the tag which goes in the 12 months in view pocket in my journal.

February marks the end of this particular journal so not sure where my Timmy tag will go next month!

I made do as usual.

I tried to make a heart stencil with a punch and acetate but the acetate got stuck in the punch!

Then I was going to use my Tattered Rose Distress Stain only to find it had gone decidedly olive and my Old Paper was green and even my Frayed Burlap wasn't that brown anymore. Last week I had found my Peeled Paint had acquired rather a horrid smell and now I noticed my Weathered Wood was going the same way. I e-mailed Tim about them and he asked me to e-mail Ranger, so I have, and it now rests with them.

Anyway I ploughed on using my Bushed Pewter and Picket Fence Stains instead. My stencil and Distress Inks weren't working that well so I ended up using a pen for the heart background to heat emboss.

I went for gold as the accent colour and matted the blackboard words with it, cut out a freehand arrow, edged the tag and glittered a heart in it too. I also realised I couldn't have an overhang on the bottom edge as this would stop the tag fitting in the pocket like the others. I topped the tag with some gingham ribbon.

As I seem to find with all of Timmy's techniques, you just need to plough on and eventually it will turn out OK, and I think it did. Now I just need to make my hubby a Valentine's!

Hi BJ, love your tag - you did a great job despite all the problems you encountered on the way. It's so strange, and disappointing, the way those distress stains have changed colour ... I don't have any and now I don't think I'll bother with them. I hope Ranger comes up with a good explanation and acceptable recompense too. Hugs, Elizabeth xx

HI BH,
It's been a long time since I've been able to check some of my favorite blogs, and I've got a lot of catching up to do with you!
What a cute tag.

Your blue hearts looks so pretty BJ. I guess you managed to make a stencil after all :-D The inks are a great disappointment though. You don't expect Ranger to produce inferior goods and |I am glad I don't have any!

Fabulous tag by the way my lovely xxx

I had a problem with the distress crackle. I used it not long after I purchased it, but it was so thick by that time, it was unusable. I never thought to contact Ranger, because I thought it had possibly been in the store for quite awhile. Now I wish I had thought to see if I could get either a refund or a replacement. Now you know why I don't buy Timmy endorsed products.

I've had the same problem with acetate. It bunches up and is hard to remove from the punch, especially if it's only slightly punched.

You made a really lovely tag in spite of all your mishaps, which were not your fault. BTW, I adore that crocus you added to your monthly calendar. It is stunning and very well cut, too. What a perfect addition to your February heart-y calendar pages.

I made my very first 2014Tag this month and really enjoyed having a go. I really like the heart background you managed to do and the gold edging is really pretty.
I hope you hear only positive feedback from Ranger. I've never heard anything like that problem before. Best Wishes, Mo :o)
ps - Thank you for the lovely comment on my Smile page x

Gorgeous tag BJ, so sad to hear of all the probs tho but well done to you for ploughing through them all. I hope you get a positive response from Ranger, I totally agree with Karen on that one, they are supposed to be a market leader producing superior quality goods!!
