About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of Watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Faith/Art Journaling too. I've challenged myself to make an art journal page a day for this my 60th year. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing. I also like walking/Geocaching and sometimes do a bit of Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I have been learning to play the harp for the past 10yrs. I am now officially retired. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

Alpha Challenge #13 - Bonfire Night

Yay The Craft Barn's next letter in their Alpha Challenge is "B" so for me an easy Special Day or rather Night as I have gone for Bonfire Night. Here in the UK this is celebrated on 5th November as a thanksgiving for the failure of the gunpowder plot in 1605.

I never thought I'd be using my leaf dies as flames, first for my Pentecost Page, now for this one, but they seem to lend themselves really well. I covered my 6x6 paper with the relevant "b" pages from my dictionary and masked out the Bonfire definition before spraying with my black Dylusions! Thought I have obliterated all notion of the dictionary pages at first but fortunately not.

I piled various branches to make the fire. I cut the letters out of different pearlescent or metallic card before dotting around them with stickles and liquid pearls like fireworks. I had to add our little saying, "Remember remember the fifth of November" to finish off.

Great page BJ.We celebrate Guy Fawkes on the 5th Nov too but its not like the time we celebrated it in England.Ours is in early summer and sometimes there is already fire bans in place and the drag is waiting for it to get dark enough, at least 8pm, to light a fire and let off fire works.Often the weather is windy too so we have to wait a day or two.But your page brought back lovely memories of standing round a big village bonfire earlish on a cold night - everyone was so happy.

Visiting from The Craft Barn - AB Fab BJ! Very clever idea to use the leaves and I love your firework lit sky. Wonderful :D
ps - Thought I would let you know that I got to your page by going through your profile from the comments sectin of the craft barn because it's very difficult to actually clic on your link. For some strange reason it is off to the side over craft barn links
