About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of Watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Faith/Art Journaling too. I've challenged myself to make an art journal page a day for this my 60th year. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing. I also like walking/Geocaching and sometimes do a bit of Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I have been learning to play the harp for the past 10yrs. I am now officially retired. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

Summer of Colour #3 - Baseball Nut

Here's my week 3 creation, using the colours of Baseball Nut Icecream, as outlined in the Summer of Colour Event. I seem to have stalled on my altered book although really wished to try out the new frame technique from lesson 10 so incorporated that in this weeks ATC for the Summer of Colour event. I used vellum for the frame, not such a good choice in the end as it is rather stiff so I had to glue the curled parts down! I do like this technique but wonder how it would fare in my altered book which I weigh down with my Cuttlebug - hmmmmmmmmmm??????

I like how you were able to incorporate both events in one post. I'm trying to come up with ways for you to incorporate some of the techniques in your AB, too.

At the moment, I suggest reading my post next Sunday when I show multiple pockets on a single page. Since you want to keep your AB flat, a concept I'm not sure is going to last forever, I will show ways to add multiple techniques using a double spread. My suggestion is to create art such as frames and magazine images (like you did above), backgrounds, and other techniques I will show in the future, and incorporate them into ATCs (or tags). When your book is finished, place the ATCs in the pockets in the book. Two pages (a double spread) will be all you are giving up. There will be a couple of techniques you won't be able to do using an ATC or a tag, but for the most part, what we will be making over the rest of the course, can probably be incorporated on ATC sized substrate.

BTW, I would give up on the concept of keeping a flat book. It won't be long until the zipper you will place in your AB will no longer allow your AB to lie flat.

Hi BJ, I have not heard of Baseball Nut Ice Cream, but if it is the colours you have used, I would love to try it. I like the way you have done your frame with the butterflies bursting through. Will have to try that technique! Thank you for sharing it. Crafty hugs, Anne x

Love the tag BJ, what a great example of that fun frame technique. Ha ha, I think I had the opposite problem to you with your vellum, I used a doily and had to be so very delicate and careful (lol, words I would rarely use to describe anything I do!!) to avoid it ripping. Hopefully will get the pages posted soon and am sure you will see what I mean.
Hugs x

Love the torn paper technique BJ. Still don't know what 'baseball nut ice cream' is! As you know, DH spent a year working with Americans and he has no idea either!! (Despite consuming huge rations of ice cream!).

I like Elizabeth's idea of making tags for the future lessons and then adding them to your book. Create lots of pockets on one page! lol Love the Summer of Color project, the curled vellum looks so nice with the butterfly coming out, kinda like a cocoon! You always do such lovely work! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina :)
