About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Junk Journaling too. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Art Journaling, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing, but am plagued by a bad back. I like walking which I couple with Geocaching and sometimes Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I guess I am officially retired now. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

WOYWW #170 - Funeral

Hi folks and Happy WOYWW to you all. I managed to visit everyone last week although I only managed to comment on about a third. Been a bit of a hectic week but unfortunately not much in the crafting sense. Hopefully you'll be able to see that I do get a bit messy when I do stuff, as I have just completed a sympathy card for my Aunt as we are going to her late husband's funeral today. My uncle was Sir Rhodes Boyson. I stayed with them for a few weeks when I first came to work in London, many years ago.

He was quite a character, and had a no-nonsense approach to education. I got this photo from the BBC webpage although there were many articles in the various papers here in the UK. He was a teacher, headmaster and minster in our government in the 80's.

I did manage to get my July/August tags into my journal though. Here are the "before tags" and "after tags" photos. Camera colour makes out they are completely different pages - LOL.

Anyway, apologies if I am late replying to anyone this week. BJ

A very elegant card BJ and your aunt is sure to appreciate it. I remember Rhodes Boyson well, mainly for his magnificent sideburns. I read his obituary in the Telegraph and it told of how he grew his sideburns. Not sure if the tale was true but it was a good one. Don't seem to be many politicians with as much character these days - too many bland spin-merchants.

Hi BJ thanks for popping by. My sympathies to you and your family on the loss of your uncle. I read about him and he definitely led a full life. He sounds like a bit of a character in today's PC world (and I don't mean the shop!) Great job on the tags. I am itching to start September - how the year is flying by! Happy WOYWW to you from Helen 22

Beautiful card BJ, hope all goes as well as it can today?
Ha ha, think that's the 'messiest' I have seen your desk so far, it is usually way too tidy lol.
That background in your tag book would make a perfect journal background, I love it.
Big hugs x x x x

I'm sorry for your family's loss, BJ. The card is lovely and soft, just what one would wish it to be. Your tags are great -- and I'm totally going to emulate your idea of a book for tags, since I love to make them and then run out of places to put them. :) ~ Laura #133

Your uncle seems like a person who didn't suffer fools and stood up for what he believed in. I like that and wish there were more people like that these days. Hope the funeral went as well as these things can.
Hugs, LLJ #81 xx

So sorry about your Uncle, but the card is really beautiful. Looks like you do make a little mess when you craft, seems like I always remember your desk being spotless...maybe that was someone else? :)
