About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Junk Journaling too. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Art Journaling, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing, but am plagued by a bad back. I like walking which I couple with Geocaching and sometimes Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I guess I am officially retired now. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

12 Months in View - June Recycling & Technique

Got around to giving the Recycling of Maps a go, as found in the June section of 12 Months in View. I have only done a small bowl and it is still drying due to the copious amounts of glue I used but it is looking good so far.

I got my supplies together up front and the tub of PVA I had since my son was a toddler (he is now a teen!) was still up for the challenge! The Cling film from my craft drawer was from the dark ages too - LOL.

I used my décopatch brush and the whole technique was rather like décopatching really so I was in my element! I did a layer of map pieces for the inside of the bowl, then newspaper then tissue (quite liked this layer but carried on) and finally a map piece layer for the outside of the bowl, a bit of Welsh mountains going on there.

Not sure what to do with the rim edge as yet, but I seem to cross my crafting bridges when I get to them these days. Suggestions welcome of course.

As for the June Technique, it was a video from Tim Holtz using your distress foam as a block stamp. I did pinks and greens and then added some bits and bobs I had in my little drawer.

Such as the leftover art nouveau rose from my glitter paste craft club pieces from earlier this week. Words from one of my latest stamps cut up inked and rearranged. Some roses from a small piece of paper and also a paper napkin courtesy of Karen at The Craft Barn Extravaganza. Oh and a piece of fence and some more of the resting birds from my new die, so useful thanks Kay. I added a few black dots and lines too.

An altogether brighter page than my previous one, which is amazing in itself with the issues I am facing at the moment!

Hi BJ - with your bowl rim edge, why don't you put some Versamark round the rim and dip into embossing powder - either metallic or toning colour...you could even create some drips!
