About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of Watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Faith/Art Journaling too. I've challenged myself to make an art journal page a day for this my 60th year. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing. I also like walking/Geocaching and sometimes do a bit of Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I have been learning to play the harp for the past 10yrs. I am now officially retired. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

WOYWW #223 - Metal Effects

Hello WOYWWers and other visitors - welcome to my desk this week.

I remembered to go to craft club this week (every 2nd Monday) and we did metal effects. So that is what is on my desk still.

I have made up the flower with a brad and a bit of curling. I have covered another piece of card with metal tape ready to cut out some foliage but that is where it stopped!

Why you may ask? Well yesterday I was a domestic goddess in the morning, I tried out a new badminton club in the afternoon and had a school meeting in the evening.

Today I have been waiting in for a shed delivery. I moved my ironing into the front room, as I am notorious for not hearing the bell, so I ironed ALL morning, went for a break and heard a sort of knock, checked and sure enough the shed man was there but he didn't use the bell! Typical.

Anyway had been pondering gilding flakes for a while so jolly glad to have a go at craft club and have just ordered some.

I hear however that the Flitter Glu can become hard after about 6 months, has anyone else had this problem?

Hi BJ. Lovely flower - and it sounds like you had great fun at your club. But - IRONING??? Don't think that word is in my dictionary - hate it - do it as infrequently as possible.
Enjoy the new shed.
No post this week as I have been away and only got back last night.

Great metal effect, and at least you heard the delivery--when we're expecting one, we try to remember to put a sign out for them, as they always go to the wrong door . . .

Anyway, a happy WOYWW to you!

Hi BJ, so sorry I'm late this week! It's been a bit busy round Magpieheaven with helping my mum sort out solicitors and surveyors for her house sale! Isn't it annoying when people don't ring the bell! We have a huge pull rope for our bell with the word 'Pull' on it and they still make pathetic little taps! I love the metal effect flower, it's gorgeous! Julie Ann xx #42

You do know 'iron' is a 4-lettered word right? If I get to feeling I want to iron, I lie down and wait for the feeling to pass. I love the metal looking flower. Very cool! I've seen it achieved with something other than metal tape, that must be with the gliding flakes you mention. I'll bet the tape is the easier method though.

Now that is true dedication to the task... ironing all morning! I loath the job but always feel satified when I come to the end of the laundry basket!! I love your metal flower, it is gorgeous! Happy WOYWW from Annette #2

Well done for ironing. I stopped years ago when the iron table became an extension of my craft table!!

Hi BJ,

What a beautiful flower. I may have to try my own version; running some tinfoil or something through my Cuttlebug embossing folder. You always have something really beautiful on your desk.

How did your operation go?

Peace,

Kay
