About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of Watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Faith/Art Journaling too. I've challenged myself to make an art journal page a day for this my 60th year. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing. I also like walking/Geocaching and sometimes do a bit of Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I have been learning to play the harp for the past 10yrs. I am now officially retired. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

Filled With LOVE

The Craft Barn Challenge this month is Art Journalling, so thought I'd have a go . Although I think I have just come up with a Scrapbook Page!! The remit was to do hearts and fill them with the things you love so here are mine:- God, Husband and Son, Creation, Our Home, Worship Songs, Birds and Crafting. At least it readdresses the balance after my February Fancy Page!

Spot the Difference

Not wishing to be completely defeated in the Art Journalling department I went out and bought an Artist's Sketchbook (for want of something to do the job). Book is 7"x10" and my page 8"x8" so I chopped off portions from the top and bottom and stuck them on the sides! Voilà - an art journal page at last!
PS Added something I love but forgot initially! and some more hearts.............will it stop there?

Hi BJ,

Thought I would stop by to answer your question and your concerns. I have never seen a book that faked the sewn spine before, but that doesn't surprise me. Actually, nothing in the book community surprises me. I hope you find a proper book before the second class.

In Lesson 2, I go into themes. However, since you asked, your theme can be anything that is close to your heart, or it can be a book on techniques we cover in the classes.

Since I don't know you, it is a bit hard to help you pick a theme. But it should be something you enjoy. Themes such as fairies, dogs or cats, family (faux), dragonflies, flowers, sewing, baking, Halloween (or other favorite holiday), birds, Steampunk, even the sun, are possible themes. I hope this helps jump start your creativity. I will be making two books. One will be Rocking Horses, and one will be techniques I display using houses. I hope that helps.

Love this page BJ! How clever of you. Really like the background and it adds depth. I can clearly see from this what is dear to your heart - absolutely no explanation needed! Juliax
