About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of Watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Faith/Art Journaling too. I've challenged myself to make an art journal page a day for this my 60th year. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing. I also like walking/Geocaching and sometimes do a bit of Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I have been learning to play the harp for the past 10yrs. I am now officially retired. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

Q&L #10 - Music

The Craft Barn's word prompts of the fortnight are Passion and Music. How could I let the moment go without doing a page to my harp, my new found passion (since I got mine back in February for my 50th!)

I chose the word "Music" as The Bible has just the right quote for me in Psalm 98:5.

Make music to the LORD with the harp.

Funny how we all seem to adopt a style all of our own and mine has come out yet again in this page.

WOYWW #260 - Kitchen Chemistry

Can't believe I have only just remembered it is WEDNESDAY and of course the WOYWW 5th Anniversary SWAP!!!!!

My excuse is that it is half term and having been rather poorly over the weekend I have only just managed to finish up my Kitchen Chemistry Course which came to an end last Friday.

So my desk this week is the kitchen counter and my last experiment.

We were discovering how enzymes work as catalysts in biology.

We showed how toxic hydrogen peroxide is broken down to harmless oxygen and water using enzymes found in potatoes and yeast. I never knew hydrogen peroxide is a by-product of breathing so our body needs to break it down pretty quick.

I have a few ATC's left up for grabs, here's a reminder.

Happy 5th WOYWW anniversary everyone, and a huge thanks to Julia for hosting such a wonderful blog hop each week. FOR FIVE YEARS!

Timmy Tag 2014 - #05

Yay done my Timmy Tag for this month. I seem to be behind in loads of stuff these days but glad to get this one done before the deadline.

For the tile features I just chose stuff I liked from my stash, some had been gifted to me and I'd been saving for something special.

I wanted to add a bit of colour to my tag so made the background in greens and used one of Timmy's bright floral papers for the tiles in pinks and yellows.

Fortunately had a piece of hessian cord for the tie which I inked a little in green too.

Quite a special tag this month.

WOYWW #259 - Harpie

There wasn't much on my desk this morning but having taken a new crafter to our local craft shop this morning, I just had to get a few papers and some blue glitter paste. Well there was a space on my shelf for the latter and you know how it is!

Only crafty projects are my Craft Barn Q&L Challenge for last fortnight's word "Fame" which I blogged here.

Also the little DLP page I promised about my shoe dilemma. Thanks everyone who sympathized with my wide feet issue, I came that close to finding a supplier from our host Julia, but alas the shoe I liked only started at size 4 and guess what I'm 2 1/2 - 3!! So my little page has a background of the Cotton Trader shoes I wear with a stamped image of the sort after court shoe. In my dreams.

OK so my harp isn't on my desk this week but thought you'd like to see me playing it in the garden, plus the Rhododendron and Allium in bloom.

Happy WOYWW everyone. If you are wondering what on earth I am harping on about, go visit Julia's mega blog hop page.

So looking forward to next week's anniversary. ATCs at the ready, one for my partner plus a further 7.

Q&L #09 - Fame

My Craft Barn entry, yet again at the last minute but inspired by a tag received in a swap, I got to work on my page.

I used the large lady stamp from the Indigo Blu freebie magazine set.

The quote I found online is by Henry David Thoreau. "Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth"

I used my Andy Skinner word stamps, which I bought from the Craft Barn some time ago. I cobbled together the words "Money" and "Fame" using a number of the stamps letter by letter. I typed the small words on my manual typewriter.

WOYWW #258 - ATCs at the ready

After a day of craft club in my house on Monday, I had a day of finishing off stuff on Tuesday. So now I have got 8 ATCs ready for the WOYWW 5th anniversary at the end of the month. They are called Indigo, Woodland, Lilac and Honey (no prizes for working out which is which!)

I also made a couple of ATC's into cards to show how they can be used as toppers.

Other things on my desk are my DLP and the page on my "Creative Hands" from the Journal 52 prompt for week 18. Next to that is a freebie shoe/bag stamp I got yonks ago and rarely use but the week 17 DLP prompt is about shoes. This is a sore subject for me as my feet are "off the scale" wide and only size 3 so getting any shoes to fit is a pure miracle. I would so love a pair of court shoes but alas this is not to be. I think my page will have to reflect this somehow.

Finally there is a little bag of die cut butterflies and dragonflies, my favourite, a gift from one of the ladies at my craft group, many thanks (I know you read my blog), they are adorable.

Happy WOYWW everyone, getting excited about the anniversary party Julia!

WOYWW #257 - Lots of Birds

Just a long shot of my craftcorner this week as not wishing to give too much away on the WOYWW ATC front.

I had quite a few pending projects to sort out,and ended up combining a few of them.
1) WOYWW anniversary ATCs
2) UKPC swap - theme Indigo
3) craft club demonstration - using inks

I started with some blue/Indigo ATCs then tried the green colourway, then purple/pink and lastly orange. So I have ended up with 8 ATCs to SWAP at the end of the month and will have even more after I do my club demo on 12th.

One other crafty project this week was the Craft Barn Q&L Challenge on Knowledge where I cut up and used a previously done piece to get it in my journal.

Oh and for the garden followers, here is our Wisteria in full bloom for May.

Sp come and join in the mega blog hop called WOYWW hosted by Julia.

Q&L #08 - Knowledge

Goodness me I seem to be doing challenges by the skin of my teeth these days!

I have been so undecided on what quote to use and wasn't going to do anything THEN I walked past a 6x6 page I did ages ago which was pegged up on my bookshelves.

Lo and Behold it had a Scripture Quote with "Knowledge" in it. I seemed to remember that we needed to do something new for the Craft Barn Challenge and the 6x6 wouldn't fit my 5x7 journal anyways so I got cutting.

For the new page I started with a basic Old Paper distress stain background with additional Pumice Stone crackle stamping.

I fiddled with loads of layouts before making myself "stick" with one and just get on with it!

I stamped with my new freebie Indigo Blu stamps and my peg stamps and really wasn't sure but just kept going until I thought it was OK.

So my challenge for this fortnight done with just over 6 hours to the deadline!
