About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (currently a year behind!), plus any cards as required. As my Carpal Tunnel allows I am getting into yarn/fabric crafts with slow stitching and needle felting added to my list. I continue with my love of Watercolour and Bible Journaling plus Faith/Art Journaling with acrylics and inks. I completed my challenge to make an art journal page a day for my 60th year in 2024. My list of crafty exploits includes ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing. I also like Walking/Geocaching. I have been learning to play the harp for the past 10yrs. I am now officially retired. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Evangelical Church.

DLP

My Documented Life Project (DLP) book is now nearly full.

Can't say I followed all the DLP prompts, I gave up on most yearly challenges back in May/June time, but I have managed to fill my little diary one way or another.

I have mainly made the last few pages like little Christmas Cards of designs I did this year.
However I have followed the Journal 52 prompt of "Sparkle and Shine" this week.

Summery Scenes

Thought I best do a few pages in my DLP, not based on any prompts but after a few days out and about geocaching, just Summery. Here's my inspiration photos.

Here's my pages. The yellow one was thought about (sort of) while the white one was just the "mop-up" from the lovely stencil I used, plus a bit.

WOYWW #267 - Colour Fest

Some eagle eyed from last week spied my bag of Loom Bands, well the craze gripped me this last week.

My desk moved to the side table in the lounge where I have made loads of bracelets just with the hook. Then I bought a kit with a loom and have made the critters and crosses since.

On my actual desk is my last Summer of Colour piece and my little DLP which is getting mighty full.

This week I had Craft Club in my house and we décopatched wooden spoons.

Also my roll of fancy coloured Duck Tape as I am trying the tape method of wart removal, the NHS even list it as a valid treatment option.

So Yes definitely having a colour fest this week for WOYWW.

Summer of Colour - Week 4

Oh such a gorgeous pallet to play with yet again. The colours for the Summer of Colour challenge this week are Pink, Apple Green & Dark Green.

A big huge thank you to Louise Robertson over on the DLP facebook group for inspiring me this week. She mentioned that the Journal 52 prompt for week 26 was "Under the Sea". Also the Timmy Tag this month happens to be on the same theme so I got to work.

I picked out some Apple Green card and embossed its edge using parts of embossing folders and the Tim Holtz diffuser plates in my Cuttlebug. I inked the raised bits and clear heat embossed them (all in keeping with my embossing theme for this year!)

I cut the fish from Pink and Dark Green card and crackle painted them. Added a bit of stenciled plants. Then out came the liquid pearls, hmmm went to town a little with these.

I photographed my DLP page with the piece of colour co-ordinated paper I found too and my new Washi tape from Sainsbury's which I bought today. So I have managed a combined Summer of Colour, Journal 52 and Timmy Tag inspired page all in one. What a great way to start the month.

Summer of Colour - Week 3

Oh some lovely soft gentle colours this week over on the Summer of Colour Challenge and another page in my DLP. The colours are Lavender, Grey & Plum, hmmm gorgeous.

This is my second attempt. I tried it first on an embossed piece of card and aimed to emphasize the bird in the cage but made it worse. So I tried again on some plain card and stamped with a different inkpad. My Plum is the little heat embossed butterfly, the splashes of ink and the border.

Summer of Colour - Week 2

Another set of colours to use this week over on the Summer of Colour Challenge. Again I am doing a flap in my DLP.

I seem to have adopted an "embossing" theme for the challenge this year. This week I used card in the 2 main colours of Coral and Teal. I embossed this with a plastic stencil in my Cuttlebug but the impression wasn't that great, really ought to have tried again with a different sandwich but didn't wish to spoil my stencil. Could also have made the impression deeper by hand but forgot!

Anyway, I proceeded to cover the card join with a piece of White (the Smudge, Splash, Pop colour) lace and hand painted the raised parts of the pattern also in white. I added a few spots of white glitter to the flowers too.

WOYWW #262 - Summer of Colour

Well The Summer of Colour challenge started this week. Just another one to add to my cacophony of challenges this year.

I am going to put the 6 weeks of pieces in my DLP which is jolly chunky now.

I received the last 4 of my anniversary SWAPs from Lottie, Jill (my SWAP partner), Anne and Elizabeth. Aren't they gorgeous.

I've been helping my hubby sort out the loft and photographed all the novels I read an age ago and have since given for the Scout jumble.

I also found a card I made back in 1999. The heart is dangly and I must have cut the aperture out by hand then! Haven't things changed?

I had another craft club at my house this week and we looked at dry embossing and I made these sample cards.

Also I have made a friend her 50th card and had to go along the embossing route, just because...

Happy WOYWW everyone. Do join in the mega blog hop over at Julia's Stamping Ground.

Summer Of Colour - Week 1

Horrah the Summer or Colour has begun. This year we have Smudge, Splash & Pop, where you make a piece using the first 2 colours and highlight with the third. Week 1's colours are Aqua Blue, Yellow & Hot Pink. I'll be adding weekly pages to my DLP diary this year.

This week I used a dry embossed background. I coloured the raised flowers with Versa Colour Canary Yellow ink (direct to paper) and clear heat embossed them. I coloured and clear embossed the accent circles in Distress Picked Raspberry Pink. I coloured the background in Distress Peacock Feathers, water spotted it and spritzed with some Distress Stormy Sky. Finally I added some Hot Pink flock to the flower centres.

DLP (J52) - Catch-Up

Here are a few more pages in my DLP, of the many challenges I am catching-up on this year.

They seem to be mainly Journal 52 prompts though.

J52 14) Rain or Shine - yes definitely a rainbow for me.

DLP 22) House - just a little diecut drawn around.

J52 19) Photography - I popped this spare photo of my son in December for his birthday.

J52 21) Mandala and J52 22) Travelling

WOYWW #261 - Determined!

Yes I am determined not to be late of forget or whatever this week so I am preparing and scheduling my post this week in good time!

Also determined to catch-up with all the various challenges I started this year as May seems to have been a bad month for me so I am weeks behind in some of them.
I have printed off 5 weeks worth in the Psalm challenge and am glad they are taking a break in June - great catch-up time for me. And don't ask how many weeks I'm behind in the Journal 52 Challenge!

On my desk is my latest Q&L page for The Craft Barn, which initially missed the link-up as it closed prematurely, but fortunately they reopened it for a short time - phew.

Also my DLP diary with my latest page fulfilling 2 prompts.

20 - Using a stamp in an new way. I'm a basic boarder or greeting stamp type of person so I used a greeting stamp as a boarder, not done that before.
21 - Embroidery. I got out my pricking patterns for this and back stitched the scallopped paisley design with a few central french knots.

Oh and my ATCs from the anniversary SWAP have started to arrive. Here are the first few, from HelenCindy, Chris and Christine. Thanks - they are super. (yes last 2 arrived after I did my desk photo!)

Dare I even mention the other 2 challenges which started this week???
Namely the Summer Scavenger Hunt and The Summer of Colour.

And for those following my monthly garden, here's the latest. Sadly the Rhododendron is not as its best now, so I just had to include a couple of shots from a few weeks ago too.

Yes - determined - I certainly need to be. Happy WOYWW everyone.

WOYWW #259 - Harpie

There wasn't much on my desk this morning but having taken a new crafter to our local craft shop this morning, I just had to get a few papers and some blue glitter paste. Well there was a space on my shelf for the latter and you know how it is!

Only crafty projects are my Craft Barn Q&L Challenge for last fortnight's word "Fame" which I blogged here.

Also the little DLP page I promised about my shoe dilemma. Thanks everyone who sympathized with my wide feet issue, I came that close to finding a supplier from our host Julia, but alas the shoe I liked only started at size 4 and guess what I'm 2 1/2 - 3!! So my little page has a background of the Cotton Trader shoes I wear with a stamped image of the sort after court shoe. In my dreams.

OK so my harp isn't on my desk this week but thought you'd like to see me playing it in the garden, plus the Rhododendron and Allium in bloom.

Happy WOYWW everyone. If you are wondering what on earth I am harping on about, go visit Julia's mega blog hop page.

So looking forward to next week's anniversary. ATCs at the ready, one for my partner plus a further 7.

WOYWW #258 - ATCs at the ready

After a day of craft club in my house on Monday, I had a day of finishing off stuff on Tuesday. So now I have got 8 ATCs ready for the WOYWW 5th anniversary at the end of the month. They are called Indigo, Woodland, Lilac and Honey (no prizes for working out which is which!)

I also made a couple of ATC's into cards to show how they can be used as toppers.

Other things on my desk are my DLP and the page on my "Creative Hands" from the Journal 52 prompt for week 18. Next to that is a freebie shoe/bag stamp I got yonks ago and rarely use but the week 17 DLP prompt is about shoes. This is a sore subject for me as my feet are "off the scale" wide and only size 3 so getting any shoes to fit is a pure miracle. I would so love a pair of court shoes but alas this is not to be. I think my page will have to reflect this somehow.

Finally there is a little bag of die cut butterflies and dragonflies, my favourite, a gift from one of the ladies at my craft group, many thanks (I know you read my blog), they are adorable.

Happy WOYWW everyone, getting excited about the anniversary party Julia!
