About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog.I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary, plus any cards as required. As my Carpal Tunnel allows I am getting into yarn/fabric crafts with slow stitching and needle felting added to my list. I continue with my love of Watercolour and Bible Journaling plus Faith/Art Journaling with acrylics and inks. I completed my challenge to make an art journal page a day for my 60th year in 2024. My list of crafty exploits includes ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing. I also like Walking/Geocaching. I have been learning to play the harp for the past 10yrs. I am now officially retired. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Evangelical Church.

Poppies and Doves

I had some duplicate photos included in my last order from Photobox. First time this has happened, a slight overrun I assume, but quite welcome.

I had a spare poppy photo, so I put that in my little CD flower album along with a garden photo which hadn't made the cut for the main Garden Reclamation 12x12 page. I used my new poppy die to embellish the page.

Spurred on by the poppy die I eventually finished my page on Morden Hall Park which had been sitting unstuck on my craft table for a few days. We'd visited the park to get some photos of the iron bridge for my Summer Scavenger Photo Hunt.

I found a new craft magazine jumped into my shopping basket the other day as it had a lovely dove die as the freebie, despite me already having 2 other dove dies!!

Well this in turn inspired me to my next page which was of a bit of geocaching we did back in the summer which took us to West Horsley so I could suss out where my new harp group was located.

I used some hexagons I had cut out when I got the set ages ago. Also the frame was sitting in my purple folder awaiting a time such as this too. All because my husband had a purple t-shirt on.

Sixteen

My son gave me a remit for a card for his friend's birthday.

A big number sixteen in red with a white background.

I offered adding some gears, which was taken well, so I got to work.

Amazing what you can do with ink and stamps to some patterned paper.

All the pieces ready for sticking.

All done.

Up to Birthday Shoot!

Here's my latest scrapbook pages from the Summer just gone.

A synopsis of one garden border reclaimed from the weeds!

Is that a harp I see in the distance?

A knitted mermaid and Remembering Dad.

The bees in the garden were very busy.

Enlightened French Doors (or are the windows??)

My son couldn't resist going through the hole left from the panel before the glass was put in.

He'd never be able to do that again was his reasoning!

My son through 5 years of secondary school, phew glad that is over!

He got 10 great GCSEs and long hair.

He is now on to pastures new - horrah!

My husband's birthday photo shoot.

He's the only one with a Summer birthday so we could get out in the garden for some family photos.

Trees, Paths, Stools & Harps

Some more scrapping, firstly my husband up a tree getting a geocache back in May on our mini ramble which brought us out on Harps Oak Lane in Chipstead. Also the leveled path as last!

Then my harp stool in the making and me playing in the garden at home and in my lesson back in June. Got to use some lovely embellishments gifted to me from a craft friend too.

The little tag in the photo pocket is the photo which didn't "fit" and is of my first broken string in July.

Sweet Peas & Sadness

Gosh a whole month has passed since my last post, where did September go?

New College for our son so new routine, also tinged with deep sadness from a friend.

My first pages are from photos taken back in April.

Firstly, when my husband fixed us new kitchen taps. The old ones had been dripping for a while so we popped into Wickes and got some new ones which surprisingly were on special offer, we found out at the checkout.

Secondly, photos of our Bible Study group. The close up shows the emblems of Canada and America befitting our leaders.

My next pages are of my Sweet Peas which were a birthday present from a friend.

I dedicate these pages to my friends' little girl, Lucy, who died suddenly on 22nd September 2015.

I only knew her on Facebook but the adventures she had in her short 5 years were a delight to share.

RIP Lucy Ceri Smith.

Germany & Box Hill

It would seem I am up to date with my scrapping. Horrah!

My husband's latest business trip to Germany from last month.

Typically I labeled the photographs incorrectly, so ended up moving the photos round to match the writing!

Our latest geocaching trip to Box Hill a couple of weeks ago. At last we've been to the folly of Broadwood Tower, it was a jolly steep climb up there.

Shells & Strawberries

Our 2 latest outings scrapped.

1) Margate Shell Grotto for our Anniversary

2) Strawberry Hill near Twickenham

Far too many photos printed yet again, I must get more stringent in choosing....

Valentine/Birthday Weekend

On Valentine's Day, my husband took me to Shere for a bit of geocaching.

Then the Geocaching App found this old Saxon Church in Albury Park nearby for us.

Great find - it featured in 4 Weddings and a Funeral.

Guess what we watched in the evening?

I am certainly getting caught up with  my scrapping.

Well after a visit to the local craft shop and getting lots of new papers it is always easier to get inspired isn't it?

Here's all my Valentine's and Birthday flowers and harps.

My husband got me the tiny gold diecut harp (x5) and the wooden mini "make your own" model harp. I had the small proper harp last year for my birthday and treated myself to the big one this year.

(been playing it in the garden this afternoon as it happens).

Walks & Music

Just got on to 2015 scrapping.

First a geocaching walk back in January.

The the day the guy from Teifi Harps brought 2 harps for me to try out.

Considering I live near London and Teifi harps are in Mid-Wales no mean thing!

My Harp teacher came to help me decide and I bought one too. Love it

Lastly, the day in February that my son got his double drum pedal plus his offer of a place in Reigate College.

Ceiling Rose

I'd wanted one for ages so I popped up to Streatham before Christmas to get one.

I went with the floral one and my husband fixed it in place on Boxing Day for me. Not the most traditional of Boxing Days!

Really pleased I thought of making a floral wreath from diecuts for the page, took ages to stick!

Sunset @ BoxHill

Just got around to my Christmas Day Scrapping.

I had two quite different sets of photos, morning present opening and then a walk on Box Hill to take in the sunset - it was freezing cold!

Somehow I managed to make them into a double layout using the same backing paper half rotated. I had a look through my Christmas box for embellishment inspiration. One of the tags I had made for the 12 days of Christmas with Tim Holtz back in 2011 did the trick. I cut it in half and made up additional embellishments to match.

Nearly finished 2014 now....

Selfie

I was chatting to my Mum on the phone last Christmas Eve, discussing how to do a selfie with her tablet.

I showed her how to change the camera round whilst doing the same on my tablet and in the process took a couple of selfies!

The stripy paper was the same colour as my top, toned down with coordinating solid card stripes. I then just added lots of special embellishments.

Woodland Management?

Just before Christmas last year, after seeing a post on Streetlife wondering what was going on in a local woodland area, we went to have a look ourselves.

All the undergrowth brambles had been cleared away and I guess all the smaller trees had been felled too. Major woodland management methinks.

Also a layout from Advent time last year, getting the decorations ready and a bigger harp to try.

Autumn Song

Don't you just love it when you have the right piece of 12x12 paper in your stash for those special photos?

This page is done on a BoBunny paper called Autumn Song.

Firstly it depicts the Harp Concert I went to last October which was a charity event raising money for Wheels for the World.

The owl embellishment is significant as the organiser's wheelchair bound brother made a film about barn owls which was very special.

Secondly when Pilgrim Harps came to Reigate's Piano Workshop last December and I got to try out some harps. I was a little outdone by a young girl playing some wonderful music on a concert harp on the other side of the room though!

Seas of Red

I have just scrapped some of photos from our day out at The Tower of London last October.

A couple of photos are from the internet as I didn't have a helicopter or drone to get the aerial shot and we didn't actually make it to the Tower Bridge side either.

First we took photos of each other on the train from Tattenham Corner to London Bridge, then our walk along the Thames to the Tower.

The Shard is a big feature now, however we didn't realise it is built over London Bridge Station! I noticed this as we walked back as I spotted a sign and looked up! Shock horror we were right beneath it, so I told the lads to stop and look up too. They were just as amazed!

The poppies were a lovely sight to behold on such a sunny day too, loads of photos were taken so it was quite a job to select a few to scrap!

Finally a couple of snaps inside the Tower grounds. I used the tops of the tickets on this page and the bottom of one as well. What an exhausting day but well worth it.

I wonder where our poppy was?

Scrap the Everyday

I scrap the everyday things of life and am only a few months behind as these were back in October last year.

First the collection bags from church which were getting rather holey, before, during and after their make-over. I did 4 in all, it took about 5 hours done over a few days.

Then my latest visit to my Mum's in Wales. The boys got to go down to the sea for some stone skimming whilst I stayed behind knee deep in yarn for my crochet classes.

Even More Scrapping

The end of my 10th album. As I have 30 pages in each album and there are 2 layouts per page, that's some 600 layouts!!

Of course some geocaching in Merstham.

There was a matching phone box top the other side of the drive and I believe the drive goes to a place where phone boxes go after use (as seen from the train by a friend)

Then the start of my 11th album with the Crochet Classes I did last year.

Just a snippet of the projects we covered in the 6 weeks.

Lastly the Electrify Course from Futurelearn and
my husband doing the Palace to Palace Bike ride.

And if I am in October of last year, I have nearly caught up - horrah!
