About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Junk Journaling too. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Art Journaling, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing, but am plagued by a bad back. I like walking which I couple with Geocaching and sometimes Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I guess I am officially retired now. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

An Attitude of Gratitude #19

Today's prompt is Books and the technique is to use book pages. All on "An Attitude of Gratitude" run by Bernice.

I don't read much other than The Bible. I read the odd "school" book with my son so we can discuss them for homework. I've read some of his other books too and adored the "Shapeshifter" series.

As a child I read The Famous Five but a school teacher wrongly told me they were too young for me so I stopped reading altogether. I didn't start reading again until in my late 20's where I happened upon a Colin Dexter - "Morse" book in a station bookshop having missed my train. I adored the TV series so this sparked my interest again. (if only my school teacher had seen where my interest lay and introduced me to a suitable book as a kid!) I devoured many crime fiction books in the following years from Agatha Christie to Patricia Cornwell and Francis Fyfield. I guess it just faded away after marriage and having a baby!

I Art Journaled all this back in February this year having made a card for a SWAP on UKPC as our theme was childhood books and then a scrapbook page too, have a look HERE.

Today's pages have the required book pages, sprayed with Dylusions and a bit of splodgy stenciling on top. I have a few book dies so I used them too. Still nursing a Rudolph nose so I'll leave it there for today.

Ah yes! Morse. One of my favs.

I am saddened by your teacher's remark. She had NO idea what an influence that made on you and your life. I hope she is no longer poisoning young, impressionable minds.

Looks like you met today's challenge perfectly. I am too independent and spontaneous to meet that type of challenge, I fear. (BTW, I told you I read all your posts! And now I can let you know, too)

I love this page BJ, fab colours and use of printed pages. So so sad to read about your experience with that truly dreadful teacher, I totally agree with Elizabeth above in her remarks, very well said. I was lucky enough to have always been encouraged by my parents and teachers to read profusely and most of my life so far has revolved around books in one way or another, lol my house is testament to that in the 'piles' of the things everywhere!!
Huge hugs x x x x

I like how these pages turned out, don't know why I haven't seen them till now. Two colors look great and the white is stunning on it!
