I think I am more of a Lyric person than a Quote person for The Craft Barn's Q&L Challenge this year.I have had this song in my head for the fortnight and even had the cutout of the African Girl on my desk for a week or so too but only today got around to actually doing something about it.
I scraped acrylic paint on the background and despite drying it, it managed to EAT 4 black pens in doing the border.
The song is the Anti-apartheid one from 1987 by Labi Siffre. Here's the original video on YouTube.

Your lovely image steals the scene. Can't begin to relate to how many black pens (GOOD ONES, TOO) that I've lost to both paint and gesso. I'm a BIG fan of your background, although I know your displeasure of paint. The lyrics are beautiful framing the page, but now you know why I, for the most part, use printed text on my painted pages. Of course, I realize the beauty of the piece comes from the hand written words on the page, which would have been lost otherwise.

A beautiful page BJ. The background colour and texture really make your silhouette pop. Your handwritten border is fabulous. I use Sharpie acrylic paint pens x-fine for all my lettering. I recommend investing in the black and the white pens and they don't run out that quickly. I store them on their side and shake before and during use (if using for a long quote etc). They are great for signing your name on canvas etc. You can use them on most surfaces. When using the white paint pen on distress ink or spray background you will need to go over the lettering once more as the ink does tint the first layer of white paint. I have found this is a cheaper and less frustrating method than other pens.

Posca pens will write over anything! I use a fine nib , think it it an 0.7 but you can get many sizes. I have both black & white in this size plus larger nibs for larger needs. Hope this helps :-) xxx
