About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of Watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Faith/Art Journaling too. I've challenged myself to make an art journal page a day for this my 60th year. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing. I also like walking/Geocaching and sometimes do a bit of Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I have been learning to play the harp for the past 10yrs. I am now officially retired. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

Wood & Glass

My son got a "make your own" wooden model of a drum kit (he plays the drums btw) for Christmas. He did start making it eventually but got quite dejected as it was very fiddly and difficult to construct, let alone the instructions were just plans of the pieces with numbers on the joints! I got sick of seeing it and tried to get him to finish it today but he didn't join me so I did it all in the end. Quite enjoyed it really, gluing and sticking is just my thing.

It now had pride of place on his window sill with a dinosaur he made some years ago.

Also finished off my mosaic coaster today, by gluing some felt on the back.

Not sure I'll bother doing mosaics again, not really my thing. But if I did I wouldn't just stick the cut tiles with PVA as it really needed some sort of thicker glue to enable you to make the pieces level. My grout says it is the adhesive too, so that would have been the thing to use really. Forgot to mention the central tile got turned somehow on its way home but I preferred it that way and left it diagonal.

So definitely crafting of a different kind for me today.

Hi again BJ, I love the drum kit - hope your son appreciates the work you put in there. I think it is good to have a change from cardmaking every now and again ... the reason for the little decorated box I did recently was just that. I wanted a change :) Hugs, Elizabeth xx

Think I prefer the drum kit too.... well done for finishing the tile! Hope you enjoy next month more - but I guess now you know you don't really like mosaicing!

Gosh, this is very different for you isn't it! That drum kit does look fiddly but the sort of thing that you can get engrossed with isn't it? I remember making up that dinosaur years ago too haha!

Fabulous tiling, something I haven't done for years and probably won't return to either haha! x

Hi BJ,

Love the drum set!!! Your mosaic tile piece looks nice - I've never tried it so am glad to hear that I can probably cross that off my "try" list!

Peace,
Kay
