About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Junk Journaling too. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Art Journaling, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing, but am plagued by a bad back. I like walking which I couple with Geocaching and sometimes Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I guess I am officially retired now. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

An A to Z of Me #07 - Goals

G is for Goals

Not sure I have any major goals in life. All I ever wanted was to be married and have children (I could only have one child) and live in a semi detatched house. As I have done all that, I guess my goal now is to bring up my son well.

For myself my word for this year is "Freedom" and I wrote a little acrostic poem using the letters as the beginning on each line. I have written that under the flap. Also the words from a song on the radio just now, "I want to thrive not just survive".

The technique was to use paper doilies as templates, although the lady in the video clip had much better success with a crocheted doily as the holes were larger. I tried a usual paper doily but also a couple of spellbinder diecut doily shapes. The paper doily wasn't much fun, the spellbinders were far better.

I used dylusion spray inks, as I don't have any others except a couple of pearl mists. I was lucky enough to have the scripture in a stamp and I also stamped a little girl from the goodie pack I received recently and some foilage.

I used more left over letters for the title word, the "a" is even fabric!

Hi BJ, like the effect you got with the die-cut doily and the colours are stunning. You would think at my age I wouldn't have many goals left to strive for, but that's not the case. The EM and I share a bucket list that we are happily working our way through ... could take us forever as we keep adding to it :) Elizabeth xx

I really love like how your page turned out. You had much better success with the spray than I did.

It's awesome that that song was playing while you were working on your journal page, like everything has come together for you. I've tried paper doilies too without much success, glad to hear I'l not the only one! waving hi from the hills of North Carolina ♥

Hi BJ.
Those doilies worked really well. I love how you made them all fit even with a flap. Neat!
