About Me

My photo
Hi, Welcome to my Blog. I'm an eclectic kind of crafter delving into many pots. I am just about managing to keep up my Scrapbooking Diary (usually about 6 months behind), plus any cards as required. I have a new found love of watercolour and Bible Journaling plus recently Junk Journaling too. Previously I've also dabbled in ATCs, Tags, Altered Books, Mixed Media, Art Journaling, Décopatch, Knitting, Crochet, and Embroidery amongst other things. I live in Surrey, UK with my husband, our son has left home now. For exercise I usually play Badminton and go Ballroom and Latin Dancing, but am plagued by a bad back. I like walking which I couple with Geocaching and sometimes Bouncing on my Rebounder (mini trampoline). I guess I am officially retired now. I am a born again Christian, currently worshiping at my local Vineyard Church.

An A to Z of Me #03 - Creativity

Day three of Bernice's A to Z of Me Art Journal Challenge for the month of February.

Today's word speaks for it self - Creativity, I love to create.

The technique though was another story, a watercolour wash with salt. The video suggested watercolour paper, watercolours and some salt. Well I had the salt, table and sea! But not the watercolour paper and the only watercolour paints are in a kiddies tin set!

I pondered...

Then I decided to just use the other side of the tag I used yesterday. Instead of the the watercolour paint I used Dylusions ink applied with a paintbrush over watered card. I added the salt and let it dry. What a super background emerged when I rubbed off the salt.

I added the word and the scripture and pondered again. I leafed through my stencil box and came up with the poppy stencil which I inked on with Aged Mahogony Distress.

Happy with my creativity today :)

What a fab, vibrant page BJ, I love it. The salt technique is so much fun as you never quite know how it's going to turn out, good to know it works with Dylusions too!
Huge hugs x x x x

Hi BJ,

Now aren't you creative! I just bought two Dylusions inks and will give this technique a go. It came out beautifully!

Hugs, Kay

Ooh thanks to my lovely artist son-in-law, I have both watercolour paper and watercolours! Plenty of salt in the kitchen cupboard - must have a go at this technique!

I love the way you used tucked the lettering on to the tab. As you've found, you don't have to have watercolour paper for the salt technique to work. I've tried it with all sorts of paper. It works on glossy paper as well. Have you tried painting in one colour, letting it dry, and then painting another over the top with salt? You can layer up all sorts of colours...
